How to collect memories from the whole family
A milestone birthday crossword works best when it is not written by one person. The sample above has answers from three: the kayak Anna capsized on Lake Garda, the paella she made for forty people, the piano she started at thirty-eight. Here is a simple way to organise it without a group-chat storm.

One person collects the memories and places the order. Everyone else just sends a line or two.

Ask a specific question
“Send me one place, one habit and one thing they always say” gets better answers than “any memories?”. Short notes are fine.

Set a deadline a week before the party
That leaves time to order, allow the 1–3 days for the clues to be written, and print.

Choose the best ten to fifteen
Mix the decades: something from childhood, something from last year. Leave out anything the birthday person would rather forget.

Can several people contribute memories?
Yes, and for milestone birthdays that usually makes the best puzzle. One person places the Etsy order and types the collected memories into the personalisation boxes, one per line.
Will an older relative be able to solve it?
The clues are written from the memories you send, so they are about things the birthday person knows well. If you want it easier still, choose memories they talk about often.
Can it show the age or the date of birth?
Yes. The first personalisation box asks for the names and the occasion, and you choose what goes in the title, the subtitle and the dedication, such as “Happy 60th, Mum” and a date.
We only found out about the party this week. Is there still time?
